Facebook Changes Mobile Profiles

Something really exciting is coming up. Today Facebook has published this amazing news on their Newsroom Blog – Facebook changes mobile profiles!

This is not about adding new filters or changing the shape of our profile picture. Facebook will allow us to add videos (!) as our profiles to express ourselves better to our friends. Check it out, it looks like a page from the newspaper in Harry Potter movies – everything moves!

Cool huh? Apart from re-designing it and putting our profile in the centre, Facebook put a lot of focus on improving this feature.

After a huge worldwide success of Celebrate Pride, when millions of fans changed their profile picture to a multicoloured overlay, Facebook responded to this phenomenon. Our need to set our profile pictures temporarily, just for a moment, or just to better express our personalities was simply not well reflected in a static, boring profile picture.

Profile pictures are not just static portraits. They represent what’s going in your life right now and what’s important to you, and we want to give people the tools to better express themselves in this way.

As of now, Facebook will allow us to set pictures for as short as a day, or add a text and stickers to it.

You might have also noticed another new feature – a short bio underneath your profile menu. Similar to what Twitter asks us when setting up our profiles, Facebook follows.

You can also self manage which tabs you want to display in the About Me section as well as featured posts that are important to you.

What do you think? Would you like to try it out yourself?

Facebook has announced that it will start testing within the UK and in California. Facebook changes mobile profiles only, nothing was mentioned about desktop. We’re excited to use those features soon!

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
